Healthy Eats: Banana Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins

Babygirl has not yet learned the virtue of patience which means Mommy needs to have Babygirl's foods prepared immediately.  I've been toying with the idea of the Once A Month cooking plan but am overwhelmed with how to start. I'm just not that organized.  So I figured I'd collect some good healthy recipes that can be frozen and take it at my own pace.

First up is a muffin I came up with by combing three different banana muffin recipes.  I've been experimenting with the recipe all week.  Batch 1 was a little dry and flat so I've added a container of yogurt at the suggestion of a friend.  Thanks K!  Also added was some cinnamon to spice it up a bit.  So far, the recipe has been approved by a five year old, two and a half year old and one year old.  Let me know what you think if you try it!

Babygirl's Banana Blueberry Muffins

1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
3 bananas
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup milk
1 container yogurt (about 6 ounces)
1 cup blueberries
1 cup oatmeal

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line muffin pans with cupcake liners.
2. In a bowl mix together flours, baking soda and cinnamon.
3. In a large bowl beat eggs and sugar. In another bowl mash bananas with a fork, then stir in milk and vanilla.
4. Using a mixer on low: add flour mixture to eggs and sugar mixture.  Add yogurt.  Then add banana mixture. Mix until combined.
5. Using a spatula fold in blueberries and oatmeal.
6. Put batter into muffin cups.  Bake 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the middle of a muffin comes out clean.

WIP Wednesday!

Wip Wednesdays:

WIP Wednesdays with Tami's Amis:

Solar Flare: Still looks like this.  It's been two weeks since I've picked this up.  MUST get back to this during the week!

Yellow plain vanilla's (Lion Brand Sock Ease): FINISHED!!!
Turned the heel on Bellatrix.  Current photo:

My version of All The Shades of Truth, in worsted weight yarn (Vanna's Choice by Lion Brand).  Added a few rows this week:

I feel like it's been a while since I've crocheted anything.  So... here's a new project on the hook: a shell stitch baby blanket:

No pattern, just pulled out a stitch dictionary and looked for a nice stitch to use.  The yarn is Bernat Kashmere (I believe it's discontinued, pulle dit out of the stash.  I can't even remember where it originally came from.)

MAM Party

A while back I was invited to a MAM Party.  Up until that point I only knew MAM for the adorable pacifiers that they make.  (I'd like to Thank whoever at Mam is responsible for the glow in the dark pacifier.  GENIUS!)  I was very excited to attend this party and see what this was all about.  The only thing I was told was that we would be able to check out some new products.

Upon arriving I discovered that my friend was hosting a teething party.  Talk about perfect timing.  Babygirl was in serious teething mode at that time.  At the party we spoke about teething (It was great to hear tips from other moms!), played some games and received these gifts:

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE these toothbrushes!  The larger ones (training brushes) are great for when I brush Babygirl's teeth and she wants to "help".  Love, love, love the ergonomic handle.  It is comfortable for me to hold and gives Babygirl something to grab onto.  At this point Babygirl uses the smaller First Brush independently and I follow up with the larger brush.

The adorable little rabbit  came a bit too late for us to use as part of Babygirl's oral care routine. (By the time of the party I was tired of getting bit as I stuck my fingers in Babygirl's mouth to clean her teeth.  Holy sharpness!)

Yellow plain vanilla's (Lion Brand Sock Ease): currenty working on the heel :)

Also at the heel for Bellatrix, waiting until I finish the yellow socks to start that.  I figure finish one pair before I start the next.

Father's Day Fun!

Babygirl made these beauties for Father's Day:

We went home for the weekend and enjoyed two days of barbecues.  So much fun!  It was great seeing some family and friends that we haven't seen in a while.

Babygirl and cousin Crash had a great time playing together.  Somehow Babygirl managed to come home with a Momma and Babybear.  Thanks Cousin I :)

WIP Wednesdays

Wip Wednesdays:

WIP Wednesdays with Tami's Amis:

Still working on Solar Flare, though I haven't touched it too much this week for fear of screwing it up.  I've had a lot on my mind and haven't been very focused at night so I've only been doing a row or two at a time.  Still loving this pattern and yarn. The yarn is Ulndi by ...into the whirled colorway Fourteen dot Twelve. Still working chart 2.

Also still working on my yellow plain vanilla's (Lion Brand Sock Ease).  They are starting to feel like the never ending pair of socks.

At the heel for Bellatrix, which means these are stalled for the moment.  I plan on spending some time on them this weekend.

I've started this beauty...sorta: All The Shades of Truth  Working with worsted so I'm making some changes to section sizes.  This is being done in Vanna's Choice by Lion Brand.

Busy Bags #2

I "made" two more busy bags this weekend.  I use the term made loosely because I really just put some stuff into two one gallon ziploc bags.

Bag 1 has a bubbles set that I picked up somewhere.  It's got a small jar of bubbles and a bunch of wands with it.  Since Babygirl loves bubbles I see this one coming in handy while were are out and about the next few months.

Bag 2 has some mini books in it.  This is one that Babygirl can use independently.  Babygirl loves looking at her books.  This will work in the car or if we get stuck waiting for something.
